Instapot BBQ Short Ribs (Tender, Flavorful, Easy Pressure Cooker Recipe)

These Instapot BBQ Short Ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, saucy, and packed with flavor—ready in a fraction of the time thanks to your pressure cooker!

Introduction

Short ribs are the ultimate comfort food—rich, meaty, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. With the Instapot, you can have BBQ short ribs on the table in a fraction of the usual time, without sacrificing flavor. Perfect for a hearty family dinner or impressing guests, these ribs are finished with your favorite sauce for finger-licking results!

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1 Tbsp Cooking with Greens Go To Blend (or salt and pepper, to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp onion powder
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (plus extra for serving)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season short ribs generously with Go To Blend (or salt and pepper), smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Set Instapot to Sauté and heat olive oil. Sear ribs in batches until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add sliced onion and smashed garlic to the pot. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze with beef broth, scraping up browned bits from the bottom.
  5. Return ribs to the pot. Add BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar (if using). Stir to coat.
  6. Seal the Instapot and set to high pressure for 45 minutes.
  7. Allow natural release for 10–15 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  8. Remove ribs and set aside. If you want a thicker sauce, set Instapot to Sauté and simmer until reduced.
  9. Serve ribs hot, drizzled with extra BBQ sauce and garnished with parsley or green onions.

Tips & Variations

  • For extra smoky flavor, use a smoked BBQ sauce.
  • Substitute pork ribs if preferred—adjust cook time as needed.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or cornbread.
