Dumpling Lasagna Recipe - Easy Fusion Comfort Food | Cooking With Greens

A fun layered twist on classic dumplings—no folding required! This innovative dumpling lasagna stacks seasoned meat and vegetables between dumpling wrappers, then steams to perfection. Perfect for weeknight dinners or when you want dumpling flavor without the fuss of folding.

Ingredients

Filling

Layers

  • Round or square dumpling wrappers
  • Water (for steaming)

Instructions

1. Prep Your Veggies

Chop cabbage, carrot, and green onions finely (almost minced). Set aside.

2. Make the Filling

Add ground meat to a bowl. Season with soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin, and all CWG Blends (Teriyaki, Garlic Black Pepper, and Spicy Umami). Add chopped vegetables and mix until well combined.

3. Layer the "Lasagna"

  • Dip one wrapper in water and lay it flat inside a small heat-safe dish.
  • Spread a thin layer of meat mixture over the wrapper.
  • Dip another wrapper, place on top, and repeat.
  • Continue until you have 4 wrappers and 3 meat layers, ending with a wrapper on top.

4. Add Moisture for Steaming

Pour about 3 Tbsp water into each dish. If water pools on top, gently press the wrapper edges so it sinks underneath.

5. Steam the Dumpling Lasagna

  • Place dishes in a steamer basket over boiling water.
  • Cover and steam 20 minutes, or until meat is cooked through.

6. Alternative Steaming Methods

No steamer? Add dishes to a wide pan, pour water halfway up the sides, cover, bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer. Watch the heat—ceramic dishes can crack if the water boils too hard. You can also steam using a rice cooker basket.

7. Finish & Serve

Let cool slightly, then top with your favorites:

  • Chili crisp
  • Green onions
  • Soy sauce + vinegar
  • Sesame seeds
  • Dumpling dipping sauce

Enjoy your stacked dumpling goodness!

Tips & Variations

  • Make it vegetarian: Use crumbled tofu or plant-based ground meat
  • Adjust the heat: Add more Spicy Umami Blend for extra kick
  • Prep ahead: Assemble the layers in advance and steam when ready to eat
  • Serving size: Makes 2-4 individual dumpling lasagnas depending on dish size
